Aug. 19, 1935 - Sept. 13, 2022
This was my dad. His name was Frank Wu. He was half-Chinese and came to the United States at age 15. He was my hero. He is till guiding me today. For 10 years , I took care of him, while he battled with Lyme disease, as I navigated post-divorce, a second masters, a doctorate, a UX bootcamp and a training a border collie puppy (now 6 years old).
After his death, along with my mom, my brother, and myself, we created a festival gathering. We did not want to call it a celebration of life (as it has become more of mourning). We wanted to be festive in how we celebrated his life and the man he was (and still is for the people that knew and loved him).
My Role(s): Program Manager (housing, events, invitations, food, music, and other activities), Speaker, grieving daughter
This YouTube video is of my my brother and myself, sharing stories of my father. The videographer was my cousin in-law. It is 17 minutes long, and shows the impact he had our both of our lives and how he inspired me to be more community oriented.
** It is an emotional segment. I still get teary-eyed watching it.
